Shearing the sheep annually in March produces hundreds of pounds of fine wool. This breed of sheep, the Scottish Blackface, produces wool that is well known in the UK for the production of fine carpets.
Another breed on the farm, Border Leicester, produces finer wool prized for its excellent spinning results.
The offspring of the Blackface and Leicester breeds, the Scotch Mule, produces wool that is a great blend for crafting and felting.
Lynne dyes her wool and uses it to make braided rugs from roving. The top floor of the barn is currently being renovated into a wool workshop for producing fine wool projects.
